Let us take you back to where it all began, with Des Hooper. Since settling in this breathtaking coastal haven on the Limestone Coast near Robe and Kingston in 1993, Des has been perfecting his winemaking craft at Cape Jaffa Wines, nestled on the edge of the awe-inspiring Great Southern Ocean. The lifestyle here is nothing short of inspiring, with opportunities to conquer mighty waves and uncover hidden aquifers within the limestone-studded back paddocks. And the water itself, filtered by time, is as pure and refreshing as can be. It was a natural choice to incorporate it into our beer. Thus, our recipes were meticulously refined, and our journey began. In the Easter of 2015, Loophole proudly tapped its inaugural keg at The Cape Jaffa Wines Cellar Door, as well as at the local watering holes — The Caledonian Inn in Robe and The Crown Inn Hotel in Kingston, South East.

Now, fast forward to 2024 — a fully equipped brew house stands tall, under the skilful guidance of our head brewer, Tom O'Reilly, with the invaluable assistance of Jesse. Together, they brew our core range of six beers every week, while also embarking on monthly ventures into the realm of small batch brews, featuring everything from IPAs and Hazy Pales to delightful Sours and captivating collaborations with the winery. Their mission? Unceasing innovation.

At Loophole Brewing Co, our commitment to minimising waste and pollution knows no bounds. We diligently recycle and repurpose every possible aspect of our production, from start to finish. Our entire operation is powered off the grid, with solar power taking centre stage. We constantly strive to form partnerships with like-minded sustainable companies that share our values and aspirations.
